A World on the Move event.

Genealogist/researcher/reference librarian Alan Wambold relates how war, economic conditions and Russian government policy created an ethnic minority settlement on the Volga River in the late 18th century. More than 100 years later, similar forces would disperse the descendants of the original settlers to locations throughout the world—including Wisconsin.

Free ticket required; pick up at the Help Desk prior to the event, or email lesref@lesterlibrary.org or call (920)793-8888 to reserve.

The American Library Association named Lester Public Library in Two Rivers one of 15 libraries in the country to host a museum-quality exhibition examining human migration. The new touring exhibit was developed by the American Anthropological Association and the Smithsonian’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. World on the Move: 250,000 Years of Human Migration aims to help people appreciate migration histories—their own and those of others—by drawing on case studies from across human history and the breadth of cultures.
